Guesthouse with Restaurant in Sedmidomí

“The Four Elements of PORFIX: How a New Guesthouse Is Taking Shape in Sedmidomí”
The Jizera Mountains captivated Yveta Hylmarová and Václav Vaněk so much that they decided to build a guesthouse with a restaurant there. “Since we’re in a location where it’s not exactly easy to transport anything, the choice of material was absolutely clear—we chose PORFIX,” says the investor behind the project currently under construction in Sedmidomí.
A completely new building is now rising on the site of the original, unsuitable house. It is dominated by a wave motif as a reference to the union of the feminine and masculine principles of yin and yang, while the interior is ruled by the motif of the four elements. The builders used both salvaged stones and bricks as well as the modern PORFIX building system.
“It’s a lightweight material that’s easy to work with, and construction proceeded very quickly. A great feature of PORFIX is that it can be easily cut into various shapes. Unlike our previous projects, thanks to PORFIX we were able to work with single-layer masonry,” explains architect Jan Kropík, noting that thanks to 500 mm thick blocks with built-in insulation, the blocks fulfill both load-bearing and thermal insulation functions simultaneously.
Václav Vaněk has a clear vision of the comfort he intends to offer his guests: “We want our guests to enjoy their stay here, to feel comfortable, and to have everything they need.” If all goes well, he plans to welcome the first visitors in the spring of 2025.
